History of the Lycian Way
The Lycian Way was marked and opened by British hiker Kate Clow in 1999. The trail follows historical roads in the ancient Lycian region and connects ancient cities. The Lycian Way is considered one of the world's 10 most beautiful long-distance hiking trails.
Kemer Stages
The Kemer section of the Lycian Way extends from Phaselis to Olympos and Çıralı. This section is approximately 25 kilometers long and is of medium difficulty. The trail offers pine forests, ancient ruins, and coastal views.
From Phaselis to Olympos
The stage starting from Phaselis ancient city first proceeds along the coast, then enters pine forests. The trail reaches Olympos ancient city, where hiking is done among historical ruins. This stage is approximately 12 kilometers long.
From Olympos to Çıralı
The stage extending from Olympos to Çıralı includes the path leading to Yanartaş (Chimaera). This section is particularly popular for night hikes because the view of eternal flames is magnificent. The stage is approximately 13 kilometers long.
